Michelle Padley's 2013 Album Breakdown

2013 Albums I listened the HECK out of:

1) Atoms for Peace- Amok
It's everything I had dreamed of and more. Once again Thom Yorke is ahead of the curve and nearly creates a new genre with friends such as Flee who have heavily influenced almost all the music I listen too.

2) Fidlar- Fidlar
Favorite track is "No Waves". It's kind of hard to play this album on the radio but a little easier to blast it in my car with the windows down... until the cops pull me over at least. But hey, "I don't care if you think its cool."

3) Kanye West- Yeezus
I will never ever forget the moment I sat down and began listening to "On Sight". I had just come back from abroad. It was the first thing I listened to and I was floored by how the album gave me every sort of timing I had wanted from recent pop tracks. This is an album filled with tracks that actually do what other songs have tried to do.

4) Toro y Moi- Anything in Return
I listened the heck out of this. Something magical happened from the moment I saw the "Say That" video. Something magical that involved trees.

5) Youth Lagoon - Wondorous Bughouse
Wasn't too impressed by Youth Lagoon's seemingly more popular first album but I was blown away by Bughouse.

2013 Albums I didn't listen to enough

1) The Knife - Shaking the Habitual
This band's trip hoppy sound should be exactly the sort of thing I'd like. Hopefully I'll get around to it.

2) Dawn of Midi- Dysnomia
Really cool experimental Jazz group but this album requires time to sit down and listen closely. Apparently I was to busy listening to Fidlar to find such time.

3) Octopus Project- Fever Forms
Gave this only one or two listens and it sounds like this Austin group is really coming into themselves.

4) Matthew E. White- EP
Great Live act and I really hope they gain more traction.

5) Moby- Innocents
I haven't even gotten a chance to listen to this in full yet. As with most Moby cd's I feel like it will gain more attention with time.
