Local Music Week: What it is and what we're doing

In case you're not aware, Local 782 will be putting on Local Music Week 2012 from April 1st through April 7th. What is Local Music Week, you ask? Well...

Local Music Week was created by Local 782 as a part of Local Media Month, which is every April. Local Media Month was established by Media Justice League, a parent organization to Local 782, to bring attention to community-made media. LMW somewhat serves as a local music campaign. The goal of this campaign is to reach people who don’t normally come out to local shows (which could be you, dear reader), making them aware of San Antonio’s growing and diverse live music community. Local 782's goal is to bring some media attention to the music community as a whole.

We here at KRTU admire Local 782's efforts to promote local music, and so we wanted to do a bit of promotion ourselves in conjunction with Local Music Week. Starting on Friday, March 30th and ending April 5th we'll be broadcasting live acoustic concerts from local musicians. Here's the line up so far:

Friday, March 30th - Pop Pistol
Saturday, March 31st - Jasper's Cast
Sunday, April 1st- 3 Legged Horse
Monday, April 2nd- Mission Complete (subject to change)
Tuesday, April 3rd- Nick Mery
Wednesday, April 4th- Ledaswan
Thursday, April 5th- Studio B Broadcast w/ Chris Maddin, Bad Breaks, Nicolette Good & more.

As you can see, our last broadcast will be special. We're bringing upping the ante for this last performance: we've added multiple musicians, and they'll be playing an electric set in our Studio B space for an special VIP audience.

Want to tune in but you're unfamiliar with the bands? Never fear! Literally almost all of these bands have footage from their Plugged-In Session on this blog. Just search for their name from the list on the right of this page!

So, now you know the deets about Local Music Week, and what Indie Overnight is doing to participate. Be sure to tune in starting March 30th to hear our exclusive in-booth concerts, and keep your eyes open from April 1st to April 7th for a great influx of live shows from local musicians at San Antonio venues!

Thanks to Local782's website for providing information on Local Music Week. Their official write-up can be found here: http://local782.org/localmusicweek
