Plugged-In Session: Piñata Protest

Late last year, San Antonio's Latin punk rock group Piñata Protest graced us with their presence for a Plugged-In session.

Piñata Protest has cleverly coined the term “punk rock-y-roll" to describe their sound. The San Antonio Current has claimed them to be “one of the most original forces on the local music scene.” The sound of their accordion has been likened to the what the bagpipes have done for the Dropkick Murphys. The bagpipes of the Dropkick Murphys is fitting to Boston's Irish culture in the same way the accordion in Piñata Protest wraps something quintessentially San Antionian into their punk rock sound.

The group features Alavaro del Norte on vocals and accordion, JJ Martinez on drum and vocals, Matt Cazares on guitar, and Marcus Carares on bass.
